You are the Difference on Campus! (orig)

Want to Help Campus Students Overcome Anxiety, Depression and Overwhelm?

College students today want to make a difference. They want to leave an impact on their world.

Unfortunately, their dreams can be swallowed up in the challenges of every day life.

Anxiety, stress, overwhelm, loneliness, depression and even suicide are at an all-time high on our campuses. Why is it that, in a place and time that holds so much promise, are we seeing so much despair?

Researchers say that anxiety has surpassed depression as the leading mental health issue facing college students.

Are the statistics we’re seeing just the tip of the iceberg? Is there more going on under the surface that we’re not even aware of?

I’m Here to Help!

I still have my journals from my teenage years.

I know the inner game that students face. I’ve been there.

That’s why I’ve created a live event where…

  • I share the struggle and victory from my own personal journey
  • Students feel safe to open up and Interact
  • Students receive the tools needed to create powerful change
  • We sing!

What students need to know now more than ever is that they are the difference on campus.

The Takeaways:

When students attend the You are the Difference experience, they learn…

  • How to generate a deep well of their own personal inner motivation
  • How to refine their sense of self-esteem, confidence and personal value
  • How to find and maintain a productive and helpful mindset and a positive focus
  • How to find meaning in what they do
  • How to take 100% responsibility for their lives and their outcomes
  • You don’t have to be the best…to be the difference

When students know that they are the difference on campus, it…

  • Creates a healthy ripple effect that impacts everyone’s personal, academic and social lives
  • Creates a positive environment of highly motivated students more likely to persevere…increasing overall retention, graduation and job placement rates a win-win for everyone!
  • Gives them the real credit they so desperately need

More than a talk…it’s a Keynote Concert!

In addition to a lively interactive discussion, I also get students singing along with my original songs. Here is the theme song You are the Difference. Give it a listen…

What people are saying…

What ultimately this helped me to see was that I have opportunities each and every day to make a difference in someone’s life…I don’t have to be perfect to make a difference!Michael Williams
What I really got from this is just to love yourself – in a sense, you ARE the difference. It doesn’t matter what you think about yourself, you literally ARE the difference to help thousands, millions, the world, effectively, is what we’re called to do, so it’s just really helped me to see that…and to love myself, so…(thumbs up)Elliot
What I really took from this was the whole thing about loving yourself. For a long [time] I’ve realized that, yeah, I love my friends, and I love everyone else and I show them lots of love, but I’ve never showed myself love, and I’ve had these voices in my head that are saying, hey, you’re not that good, you know, you’re, in the end, worthless because you can’t do simple things – and not loving myself – so I’ve really learned to love myself a lot more today, and that’s just awesome – loving yourself!Anonymous
I’m a difference because even though I’m not the loudest and most outspoken guy you’ll probably ever meet, it’s the little things matter most – just being able to listen, just being able to meet needs, being able to do things that bring attention to myself that i don’t like, but if it means it’ll make a difference to someone, then, by all means…Jarvis
My whole life has just been like, I grew up in a neighborhood where the people around me basically wanted me to bury my emotions…’cause that’s how you survive. That’s how you make it. If you don’t learn how to bury your emotions, then you’ll just get beat on. You’ll get trampled over. And I think that’s something that’s going to stay with me for the rest of my life and I’m going to have to battle through. But being a difference, knowing the value of myself, what I can do for other people…that’s key.Anonymous
I’ve kind of accepted this whole thing that I’m never going to be good enough, I’m always going to be a sinner, I’m always going to be a terrible person, I’m always going to have something to work on, I’m never going to be good enough and that’s taken me, my mentality, down and I haven’t really seen myself as a difference maker. I’ve just seen myself as someone who has just messed up repeatedly. I will constantly wake up and just think, oh my gosh, what kind of thing am I going to ruin today?

Steve Pederson helped me to see you really have made a difference. There are so many things you’ve done to make a difference, and it’s okay to look at the positives in your life. It doesn’t make you a prideful person. It doesn’t make you an arrogant person at all. So, humbling my heart and just seeing, yeah, I am a good person. I am doing good. That’s something that’s really powerful in my life. yeah.
