As I continue on my journey to write and perform my own music, I’m
ever mindful that one of the things I really want to do is inspire
people.
I really don’t want to scare them away.
That’s why I often get self-conscious about skills that I feel like
are really not my strengths. Specifically I’m talking about my
singing voice. I don’t think I have a bad voice, or an intolerable
voice, but I recognize the fact that I’m not an amazing singer. My
singing voice is not eagerly sought out by the masses. I am not
holding my breath in hopes that I might get asked to sing the
National Anthem as a soloist…anytime or anywhere.
And no amount of affirmations is going to magically give me a gift
that I just don’t have.
But that’s not going to stop me from singing. I just realize that I
NEED HELP in this area. I want to improve. I want to get better.
That’s why I have begun to work with a vocal coach.
Now, I’ve taken some online training courses to improve my skills,
and I have noticed an improvement. I’m at the stage now, though,
that I need real-time feedback from a real life expert. So, I’ve
begun to work with Lara Jenkins as my vocal coach!
I will be working with her this week on the songs that I am
planning to submit to the Worship The Rock songwriting contest.
In all this I’m hoping to inspire people, not only with my songs,
but also with my story. I don’t want to let my apparent weaknesses
or insecurities hold me back from living out, what I feel is, my
mission.
If you’re interested, feel free to hit me back and let me know
about something in your life that you’re getting help with to
become stronger in, with the hopes of making a difference in
people’s lives.
Cheers!
