I hope you’re enjoying your summer!
This past week I’ve had a lot of fun with my family. We went to Minnesota to celebrate family birthdays. While we were there we went to the beautiful Minnehaha Falls…

Then, my wife and I celebrated our 20 year wedding anniversary. We spent the day at Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. That was amazing…

Then, last night, my wife and I went to see a Tom Petty cover band at the park in our neighborhood…

That was so much fun! The band was good, but what I liked most about them is that they were just being themselves and having a great time. Because they were having a great time, so was everyone else.
By way of comparison, I saw a Led Zeppelin tribute band at the same park last year. The band was really good, but they were so concerned about recreating a 1970s Led Zeppelin concert experience, and trying to look like the band members, that it just seemed so silly and so fake…so ridiculous.
Anyhow, I guess I learned a lesson. Just be yourself and have fun and you will genuinely connect with people and make an impact.
I guess that’s kind of what I’ve done with this email.
My intention was to just share with you what’s been going on – no deep profound insight, AND to share with you that I’m going to take a few weeks off from writing my weekly emails.
My wife heads back to work tomorrow, but the kids don’t start back until after Labor Day. Looks like we’ll be getting some good daddy-daughter time in the next couple weeks. Who knows? Maybe we’ll revisit the Daddy-Daughter Diaries on Facebook Live again.
I’ll reconnect with you in September.
Ciao for now!
