Sometimes the difference between a positive and a negative perspective can be subtle.
Earlier today, I was prompted to think of one thing I was grateful for. Because I was feeling a bit under the weather, the first thing that came to mind was…
I’m grateful I didn’t have to go in to work today.
Once I wrote that down, though, I immediately realized that the energy around that idea was somewhat negative. I then rephrased the statement in a more positive way…
I’m grateful I had an opportunity to stay home and rest today.
Doesn’t that feel lighter?
The first statement has an energy of loathing going to work. It’s a gratitude for something negative that isn’t happening or isn’t there. It’s giving attention to the heavy stuff. That’s not a place you want to be.
The second has a focus on something good and positive that is actually there – an opportunity for rest!
As you go through your week this week, I encourage you to be aware of what you’re grateful for. Is it the positive stuff, or just the lack of negative stuff? Which one will you focus on? The lack, or the abundance?
Cheers!
